Chapter 7 - The Frame Job

I was violently thrown into a cold, concrete interrogation room.
I sat shivering at the metal table for hours without any water.
A grim detective finally walked in and threw a plastic evidence bag onto the table.
Inside the bag was a bloody hunting knife.
The detective told me they had found the murder weapon hidden under the passenger seat of my car.
I frantically explained that someone had planted it there to frame me.
The detective just smiled and said Lauren had already provided a full witness statement.
Lauren held a tearful press conference claiming I was a violent, unhinged rival who had threatened her boss.
Ethan arrived at the police station an hour later with the best defense lawyers in New York.
They fought aggressively and managed to get me released on a massive bail bond.
I was free to go home, but I was now the prime suspect in a high-profile murder case.
The police froze all of my personal and business bank accounts pending the investigation.
My restaurant staff panicked when their paychecks bounced, and almost everyone quit immediately.
I returned to my dark, empty flagship restaurant feeling completely defeated.
I sat on the floor of the kitchen, ready to finally give up.
My youngest dishwasher suddenly walked out of the shadows holding a small black device.

He quietly handed me a hidden security tape he had pulled from the back alley camera.
He told me the tape showed exactly who had opened my car door on the night of the murder.
