Chapter 8 - The Hidden Cell

The two sisters stared each other down in a deadly, silent standoff.
Victoria was completely furious that Valerie had abandoned her during the mercenary shootout.
Valerie tried to negotiate, promising they could still escape with all the stolen money.
Victoria slowly shook her head, coughing up a small amount of dark blood.
She pulled the trigger without any hesitation, shooting her twin sister perfectly in the chest.
Valerie collapsed onto the cold stone floor, completely dead before she even landed.
Victoria dropped her weapon and slumped heavily against the curved lighthouse wall.
She looked at Ethan with a pathetic, desperate expression of pure defeat.
She confessed that she actually fell in love with him during their fake engagement.
Ethan felt absolutely no pity for the monster who had destroyed his entire family.
He demanded to know where Olivia was currently hidden before Victoria bled out completely.
Victoria pointed a shaking finger toward a heavy metal grate securely bolted to the floor.
She whispered the combination code to the padlock just as her eyes rolled completely back.
Ethan grabbed the padlock and frantically dialed the numbers Victoria had provided.
The lock clicked open, and he violently hurled the heavy metal grate aside.
A dark, narrow spiral staircase led deep into the bedrock beneath the lighthouse.
He grabbed the flashlight and raced down the stairs with Lucy close behind him.
They reached a tiny, damp subterranean cell that smelled intensely of the salty ocean.
Huddled in the corner on a filthy mattress was a frail, trembling woman.
Ethan fell to his knees and called her name softly into the darkness.

The woman slowly turned her head, revealing Olivia’s beautiful, unmistakable face.
She looked at Ethan, frowned in deep confusion, and asked who he was.
