Chapter 7 - The Twin Deception

A heavy steel gate immediately crashed down, trapping Ethan and Lucy inside the circular room.
The identical twin sister stood up, casually slipping her wrists out of the fake iron chains.
She introduced herself as Valerie, the true mastermind behind the entire brilliant operation.
Valerie explained that Victoria was merely the beautiful, charming face of their criminal enterprise.
It was Valerie who had run the psychiatric facility and organized the massive extortion ring.
Ethan demanded to know what they had actually done to his real wife.
Valerie laughed, a cold and utterly emotionless sound that echoed off the stone walls.
She revealed that Olivia had never been completely insane or running from a syndicate.
Olivia had discovered that Valerie and Victoria were systematically stealing millions from Ethan’s company.
They locked Olivia in the asylum and faked her death to keep her permanently silent.
Valerie taunted Ethan, calling him a gullible fool for never noticing the massive financial drain.
Lucy noticed a heavy metal pipe resting near the bars of the steel gate.
She subtly kicked the pipe toward her father while Valerie continued her arrogant monologue.
Ethan scooped up the pipe and violently smashed the electronic control panel on the wall.
The steel gate sparked wildly and slowly began to grind upward.
Valerie panicked and drew a suppressed pistol from her leather jacket.
Before she could fire a single shot, the heavy lighthouse door burst completely open.
Victoria stumbled into the room, bleeding heavily from a severe gunshot wound to her stomach.
She looked at her sister with pure, unadulterated hatred burning in her eyes.

Victoria raised her own weapon and aimed it directly at Valerie’s head.
“You left me to die at the motel,” Victoria whispered fiercely.
