Chapter 8 - The Desperate Gambit
The chilling photograph completely shattered Alejandro's fragile, hard-won illusion of safety. Esther had brutally kidnapped Valeria's entirely innocent parents to forcefully draw them completely out of hiding. The back of the glossy photograph contained a set of GPS coordinates and a strict, deadly deadline of midnight. If Alejandro did not physically deliver the baby to the specified location, Valeria's beloved parents would be immediately executed. Valeria wept hysterically when she saw the horrifying picture, begging Alejandro desperately to find a way to safely save them. Alejandro knew absolutely that handing over his innocent son was a complete, undeniable death sentence for the child. He carefully formulated a wildly dangerous, desperate plan that required him to walk completely unarmed directly into the lion's den. He left Valeria and the baby heavily guarded at the safe house by Ricardo's heavily armed, remaining loyal operatives. Alejandro traveled quickly back into the highly dangerous heart of Mexico City entirely under the cover of absolute darkness. He arrived precisely at the coordinates, which led directly to a massive, abandoned warehouse near the rotting industrial shipyards. He walked bravely through the heavy metal doors with his hands raised high, holding a completely empty baby carrier. Esther was waiting exactly for him, entirely surrounded by dozens of heavily armed guards and the deeply corrupt Doctor Silva. She frowned deeply and angrily when she realized the baby carrier did not actually contain her miraculous cure. She strictly ordered her men to execute the hostages immediately for Alejandro's blatant, insulting disobedience. Alejandro loudly announced that he had forcefully injected himself with a highly lethal, extremely contagious airborne viral pathogen. He held up a small electronic remote detonator securely connected to a heavy vest hidden beneath his thick coat. He lied with absolute, unblinking conviction, stating that if his heart stopped, the vest would aggressively release the virus and instantly kill everyone in the building. Esther laughed mockingly, completely refusing to genuinely believe her own son was truly capable of a brutal suicide mission. She nodded slightly to a hidden sniper completely concealed in the high steel rafters of the dark warehouse. A laser sight quickly painted a bright red dot directly onto Alejandro's sweating forehead. Before the sniper could even pull the trigger, the massive warehouse doors exploded violently inward with deafening force. Dozens of armored tactical vehicles flooded aggressively into the building, completely overwhelming the stunned Aranda mercenaries. The heavy vehicles were clearly marked with the official insignia of the Federal Police Special Operations division. Stepping proudly out of the lead vehicle was Mateo, wearing a heavy medical arm sling and a completely triumphant smile.
