Chapter 9 - The Tarmac Confrontation

The massive explosion ripped through the private boat dock, sending wood and fire high into the night sky.

I screamed from the helicopter, entirely convinced that my best friend had just been murdered.

Through the thick smoke, the night-vision cameras revealed that the speedboat was completely destroyed.

However, Julian and Sarah had not reached the dock before the bomb detonated.

They were knocked off their feet by the shockwave, completely covered in dust and debris.

Julian scrambled to his feet, abandoning his hostage entirely to save his own miserable life.

He sprinted across the sandy beach toward a secondary, hidden helipad on the edge of the resort.

My father ordered the helicopter pilot to intercept the fleeing coward immediately.

Our helicopter swooped down aggressively, kicking up a massive storm of sand and blinding Julian completely.

The black-ops soldiers secured Sarah on the beach and signaled that she was safe and unharmed.

I watched as our helicopter landed directly on the helipad, cutting off Julian's only escape route.

Julian pulled a silver pistol from his jacket and aimed it wildly at the helicopter windshield.

Before he could even pull the trigger, the side door of a nearby maintenance shed burst open.

Victoria walked out of the shadows, holding a heavy military rifle she had stolen from the cartel guards.

She had escaped federal custody and tracked Julian here to get her final revenge.

She did not say a single word as she raised the rifle and aimed it squarely at Julian's chest.

Julian lowered his pistol and begged her to remember the child they were supposed to have together.

Victoria smiled coldly and pulled the trigger without an ounce of hesitation.

The bullet struck Julian in the shoulder, spinning him violently to the ground.

Victoria threw the rifle into the sand and walked toward our helicopter with her hands raised in surrender.

She yelled that she was ready to testify against Julian and the cartel for full federal protection.

Julian lay bleeding on the concrete helipad, laughing hysterically as the soldiers surrounded him.

He looked up at the helicopter and screamed that he had planted a bomb on the medical transport carrying my baby back home.
