Chapter 3 - The Admiral's Wrath

I stared at the local detective in complete, unfiltered disbelief.

My father did not shout, nor did he reach for a weapon.

He simply pulled his federal identification from his pocket and held it up to the detective's face.

He coldly informed the men that they were currently standing on sovereign federal territory.

He added that interfering with a classified military protection detail was an act of treason.

The local detectives turned pale and slowly backed out of the hospital room without another word.

My father locked the door and pulled out an encrypted satellite phone.

He told me that Julian had spent the last six months carefully building a fake narrative about my mental health.

Julian had bribed doctors, forged emails, and paid off local authorities to paint me as unstable.

He did it all to secure a fifty-million-dollar life insurance policy without my knowledge.

I felt a cold shiver run down my spine as I realized the true depth of his betrayal.

I was not just an inconvenient wife standing in the way of his new mistress.

I was a massive, walking payday designed to save his failing logistics empire.

My mother walked into the room, looking elegant and terrifyingly calm in her designer suit.

She hugged me tightly and whispered that our family trust had just frozen every single asset Julian possessed.

She had spent the entire night tracking his corporate accounts and uncovering his hidden ledgers.

My mother revealed that Julian’s company was not struggling because of the current economic market.

His shipping containers were completely empty because he was using them to smuggle illegal military weapons.

He had promised a violent international cartel a massive weapons shipment by the end of the week.

If he did not deliver the weapons or the money, the cartel would execute him.

My father's phone suddenly buzzed with a high-priority text message.

He read the screen, and his face turned entirely pale.

He told us that Victoria had just been released from federal custody.

The cartel had paid her massive bail in cash, and she had vanished into the city.
