Chapter 5 - The Conservatorship Trap

Ethan dragged Vanessa out of the boardroom before the bank security guards could physically throw them out.

They retreated to a cheap, roadside motel on the outskirts of the city.

The damp, moldy room was a far cry from the luxurious mansion they had lived in just yesterday.

Ethan sat on the edge of the sagging mattress, burying his face in his trembling hands.

Vanessa furiously paced the dirty carpet, her mind spinning viciously as she plotted her revenge.

"We are not going to let a crazy old woman take our fortune," Vanessa snarled.

She pulled out a prepaid burner phone and dialed a shady private investigator she had used in the past.

Her plan was entirely ruthless and deeply evil.

She wanted the investigator to forge a stack of psychiatric medical records in my name.

She planned to file an emergency legal conservatorship, claiming I was suffering from severe dementia and making erratic financial decisions.

If a judge declared me mentally incompetent, Ethan would regain complete control of the twenty-one million dollars.

The investigator demanded a massive upfront payment to commit such a dangerous federal crime.

Vanessa agreed, promising him a massive cut of the trust fund once they successfully seized control.

She hung up the phone and smiled wickedly at her terrified husband.

"By this time tomorrow, your mother will be locked inside a psychiatric ward, and we will be rich again," Vanessa promised.

That night, the corrupt investigator picked the lock on my old, abandoned guest cottage to plant fake medical pills.

He moved quietly through the dark room, holding a small flashlight between his teeth.

Suddenly, the blinding glare of high-intensity tactical lights flooded the tiny cottage.

"Put your hands in the air and slowly turn around," a deep voice commanded from the shadows.

The investigator dropped his flashlight and raised his hands in absolute terror.

Marcus's elite private security team had been waiting for him in the dark the entire time.
