Chapter 2 - The Hospital Trap

The wail of the ambulance siren pierced the quiet suburban neighborhood as they sped toward the hospital.
Peter sat in the back of the emergency vehicle, firmly holding Drew’s uninjured hand.
The little boy’s confession about Aaron’s poisoned coffee echoed relentlessly inside Peter’s spinning mind.
He realized with a sickening clarity that his brother had never suffered a natural heart attack.
Reena had murdered Aaron, and these innocent children had been living with a monster for three years.
At the emergency room, a swarm of doctors and nurses immediately took charge of the starving children.
Peter paced the sterile waiting area, his fists clenched in a mixture of profound grief and blinding rage.
A middle-aged doctor eventually approached him with a grim, tightly controlled expression on his face.
The physician confirmed that Drew had sustained a severe spiral fracture to his tibia at least two weeks ago.
He added that Lily was suffering from extreme malnutrition and severe clinical dehydration.
The hospital staff had already documented the horrific abuse and officially contacted Child Protective Services.
Peter vowed silently that Reena would spend the rest of her miserable life rotting inside a prison cell.
Suddenly, the heavy double doors of the emergency department swung open with a violent crash.
Reena marched into the waiting room, her face twisted into a perfect mask of hysterical, weeping motherhood.
She dramatically cried out for her babies, performing for the concerned nurses and hospital security guards.
Peter stepped directly into her path, blocking her from getting anywhere near the pediatric trauma ward.
He told her with absolute venom in his voice that she would never touch his nephew and niece again.
Reena stopped crying instantly, her tearful expression vanishing to reveal a cold, calculating smirk.
She reached into her designer leather purse and pulled out a thick stack of legal documents.
She aggressively shoved the papers directly into Peter’s chest, demanding that he read them carefully.
Peter scanned the official court documents, feeling the blood completely drain from his face.
Reena had filed an emergency restraining order against him earlier that morning based on fabricated evidence.
The legal papers falsely accused Peter of kidnapping the children and physically assaulting his nephew.
Two large police officers stepped forward from behind Reena, placing their hands firmly on their duty belts.
The older officer instructed Peter that he needed to leave the hospital premises immediately or face arrest.
Peter desperately tried to explain the basement punishment room and the horrifying truth about his brother's murder.
The officers simply shook their heads, stating that Reena had full legal custody and the law was on her side.
Peter was forcefully escorted out of the sliding glass doors and pushed into the freezing hospital parking lot.
He watched helplessly as Reena smiled at him through the glass, knowing she was about to reclaim her victims.
Peter realized that playing by the rules would only result in the death of the only family he had left.

He pulled his car keys from his pocket, deciding that he needed undeniable proof to destroy her fake narrative.
He was going to break into Reena’s house right now and find exactly what she was hiding in that basement.
