Chapter 3 - The Confession
Sarah lowered the weapon slightly, her hands shaking so violently that the metal gun rattled against my headrest.
She looked at her daughter, tears streaming heavily down her severely bruised and battered face.
I asked Sarah why she was threatening my life when I was only trying to help her child.
She sobbed quietly and told me that bringing Lily to a hospital was the absolute worst mistake I could have possibly made.
Her wealthy husband, Greg, was a powerful medical researcher who worked for a highly secretive, shadow corporation.
Greg had illegally embedded that tracking device into Lily to harvest her rare antibodies for an unapproved pharmaceutical trial.
Sarah explained that the metal disc acted as both a continuous biological extractor and a highly advanced GPS tracker.
Greg knew exactly where we were at all times.
He had incredibly powerful people on his massive payroll, including the local police department and the emergency room staff.
I felt a cold, terrifying sweat break out across my forehead as the reality of our situation sank in.
I told Sarah we needed to drive straight to the FBI headquarters in the center of the city.
She shook her head weakly and said we would never survive the drive to the federal building.
Suddenly, the digital dashboard of my SUV flickered wildly and turned completely black.
The engine sputtered, choked violently, and completely died in the middle of a deserted, winding country road.
The steering wheel locked tightly in my hands, forcing me to aggressively hit the brakes to stop us from crashing into a deep ditch.
We sat in absolute, terrifying silence as the headlights shut off and plunged us into darkness.
Greg had hacked into my vehicle's internal computer system and disabled the entire engine remotely.

I looked out into the pitch-black night, my heart pounding so loudly I could hear it in my ears.
A pair of bright, blinding headlights suddenly appeared in the distance, speeding directly toward our stranded car.
