Chapter 6 - The Arrest

Red and blue emergency lights flooded my broken living room window within minutes.
Three police officers burst through the front door with their weapons drawn and flashlights blazing.
They found Kevin groaning in pain on the floor, surrounded by shattered glass.
An officer quickly kicked the baseball bat away and pinned Kevin face-down onto the carpet.
The heavy metallic click of handcuffs echoed through the tense room.
I quickly explained the entire situation to the lead detective, handing him the digital recorder.
He played the audio right there in my kitchen, his expression growing dark and serious.
"This is rock-solid evidence of conspiracy to commit fraud and extortion," the detective stated firmly.
Paramedics arrived shortly after, checking Kevin for a concussion before loading him into an ambulance under armed guard.
Chloe sat on my sofa, holding a warm cup of tea as the adrenaline finally wore off.
Just as the police were wrapping up their crime scene photos, a black luxury sedan aggressively pulled into my driveway.
Arthur stepped out of his car, wearing a perfectly tailored suit and a look of deep concern.
He rushed toward the front porch, acting like a terrified, innocent grandfather.
"Sarah, my dear, what on earth has happened here?" Arthur asked loudly for the police to hear.
The lead detective stepped right in front of Arthur, completely blocking his path into the house.
"Are you Arthur Vance?" the detective asked coldly.
Arthur nodded, puffing out his chest with an air of arrogant superiority.
"Yes, I am the patriarch of this family, and I demand to know why my son is in an ambulance," Arthur stated.
The detective casually pulled a pair of steel handcuffs from his tactical belt.
"You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit fraud, forgery, and extortion," the detective announced loudly.
Arthur's arrogant facade crumbled instantly, his face turning ghostly pale under the porch lights.
He tried to run back toward his luxury car, but two officers quickly grabbed his arms.
They slammed him roughly against the hood of his own vehicle and cuffed him tightly.
I stood in the doorway, watching the toxic men who had ruined my life finally face justice.
But my immense relief was instantly shattered by a terrifying phone call.
My estate lawyer, Mr. Henderson, was calling me at two in the morning.

"Sarah, I just got an alert from the bank," Mr. Henderson said in a panicked voice.
"Arthur successfully filed the forged power of attorney three hours ago, and he completely drained Noah's trust fund."
