Chapter 2 - The Unwanted Visitor

I stared at my phone screen in absolute disbelief as Chloe's words sank in.
Kevin was not just using my money to fund his daughter's luxury life.
He was actively stealing from his own child to finance a secret double life.
I immediately dialed Chloe's number, my hands shaking with anger.
She answered on the first ring, her voice choked with heavy sobs.
She explained that she had confronted Kevin the moment she saw the bank account name on Madison's phone.
Kevin had screamed at her, packed a duffel bag, and stormed out of the house.
Madison was locked in her bedroom, utterly devastated that her father had used her as a pawn.
I promised Chloe that I would help her through this nightmare and hung up the phone.
A sudden, aggressive pounding echoed from my front door.
I walked down the hallway and peered through the peephole.
It was my father, Arthur, his face flushed bright red with sheer rage.
I took a deep breath, unlocked the deadbolt, and opened the door.
Arthur pushed past me without a word and stormed directly into my living room.
"Turn those accounts back on right this second, Sarah," he demanded furiously.
I crossed my arms and stood my ground against his imposing figure.
"Kevin is stealing my money to pay for his mistress, Dad," I stated firmly.
Arthur waved his hand dismissively as if infidelity was a minor inconvenience.
"Your brother made a little mistake, but that does not mean Madison should suffer," he argued.
"I am not funding this toxic family anymore," I replied coldly.
Arthur stepped closer to me, his eyes narrowing into dark slits.
"You owe this family," he growled.
"Your late husband left you millions, and it is your duty to share it with your own blood," he yelled.
I pointed toward the front door and told him to leave my house immediately.
Arthur let out a dark, menacing laugh that chilled me to the bone.
"You really think you can just cut us off?" he asked with a sinister smile.
He reached into the inner pocket of his heavy wool coat.
"I did not want to do this, but you leave me absolutely no choice," he muttered.
Arthur pulled out a perfectly folded, thick legal document.
He slapped the papers violently onto the glass surface of my coffee table.
"This is an emergency petition for full grandparent custody of Noah," he declared.
I stared at the frightening legal header printed at the top of the page.
"You will never take my son away from me," I whispered in horror.

"I already have a judge scheduled to hear the case tomorrow morning," Arthur replied smoothly.
"I have five parents from the party willing to testify that you had a violent psychotic break over a simple cake," he lied effortlessly.
