Chapter 6 - The Chase
The wooden splinters of the garage door rained down aggressively across the hood of the SUV.
Ethan reversed his heavily damaged pickup truck, clearing the way for a second, much harder ramming attack.
He was entirely determined to crush them inside the garage before they could ever reach the authorities.
Margaret did not hesitate for a fraction of a second.
She slammed the SUV into drive and stomped on the gas pedal with all her might.
The massive vehicle roared forward, colliding violently with the side of Ethan's truck before he could brace himself.
The brutal impact spun the pickup truck out of the way, allowing Margaret to speed recklessly down the long driveway.
"Hold on tightly, Olivia!" Margaret shouted over the deafening roar of the engine.
Olivia gripped the leather armrests, screaming in sheer agony as the bumpy ride intensified her contractions.
She could feel the terrifying, overwhelming urge to push.
Margaret swerved onto the main highway, pushing the heavy SUV well past the legal speed limit.
She looked in the rearview mirror and saw the menacing headlights of Ethan's truck rapidly approaching them.
He was recklessly weaving through the nighttime traffic, completely disregarding the safety of innocent drivers.
He pulled up alongside them, intentionally slamming his heavy truck against the passenger side door.
The metal shrieked and sparked violently, sending a terrifying jolt through Olivia's entire body.
"He is trying to push us off the road!" Olivia cried frantically.
Margaret gripped the steering wheel tightly, fighting desperately to keep the heavy vehicle on the wet asphalt.
She knew they could not outrun him forever, especially with Olivia bleeding and in active, premature labor.
She made a sharp, incredibly dangerous turn off the highway, heading directly toward the heavily fortified Army base.
Ethan realized where she was going and immediately stepped on the gas, trying to cut them off before the gates.
He pulled a gun from his center console and fired wildly at their tires.

One of the bullets found its mark, completely shredding the rear driver's side tire.
The SUV violently spun out of control, crashing heavily through the metal security barriers of the military base.
