Chapter 7 - The Midnight Warrant

Officer Davis quickly escorted me out of the heavily crowded police precinct and into his unmarked police cruiser.

The car heater violently blasted hot air onto my freezing body, but I still could not stop violently shivering.

"If Eleanor successfully moves Lily to that unlisted facility, they will completely vanish under a fake legal name," I said in pure panic.

Davis aggressively hit the gas pedal, weaving highly skillfully through the wet, dangerous city traffic.

"Brenda is currently waiting for us at the courthouse with the highly encrypted audio drive," Davis assured me completely.

"We woke up a highly sympathetic judge who strongly owes our family a massive favor."

We arrived at the large, intimidating courthouse just as the digital clock heavily struck midnight.

A stern, older woman was pacing rapidly by the massive back doors, holding a small silver flash drive tightly in her fist.

Brenda recognized me instantly and pulled me into a completely unexpected, highly warm embrace.

"I heard absolutely every single word that evil woman said to you, and I am not letting her win," Brenda promised fiercely.

We hurried deeply into the dark, silent building, our echoing footsteps completely breaking the heavy midnight silence.

Judge Ramirez was highly waiting for us in his private, dimly lit chambers, wearing incredibly casual clothes.

He looked highly skeptical as he aggressively plugged the small drive directly into his desktop computer.

"This had better be completely irrefutable, Davis, or I am risking my entire career for a massive civil dispute," the judge warned strictly.

Brenda confidently clicked the play button, and the stark, chilling reality of that terrible morning heavily filled the quiet room.

The judge listened completely silently to my agonizing screams, the distinct sound of the vicious slap, and the highly undeniable click of the metal lock.

He heard Eleanor arrogantly tell me to stop being highly dramatic while I desperately bled on a freezing tile floor.

Judge Ramirez's face turned entirely bright red with absolute, pure professional outrage.

He violently slammed his heavy fist directly onto the thick wooden desk, completely shattering the quiet atmosphere.

"This is entirely premeditated torture and massive child endangerment," the judge growled fiercely.

He rapidly typed into his official computer, officially revoking the fake restraining order and issuing highly urgent arrest warrants.

"I am officially granting you full emergency custody, and I am highly dispatching units to the hospital right now," Judge Ramirez declared.

Tears of absolute joy and massive relief aggressively flooded my tired eyes.

We quickly ran completely back to the fast police cruiser, speeding highly dangerously toward the local hospital.

I fiercely clutched the signed custody papers directly against my wildly beating heart.

We forcefully burst through the heavy emergency room doors, accompanied by three highly armed backup officers.

We rapidly took the massive elevator directly to the secure neonatal intensive care unit.

I sprinted aggressively down the sterile white hallway, incredibly ready to finally hold my precious daughter.

But when I forcefully burst through the heavy double doors of her assigned room, the small plastic crib was completely empty.

The heart monitor was entirely disconnected, and the warm blankets were violently thrown directly onto the floor.

A terrified young nurse aggressively pointed a shaking finger toward the shattered glass of the emergency fire exit.

"Eleanor forcefully took the baby exactly five minutes ago, and she had a highly dangerous, massive gun!" the young nurse screamed violently.
