Chapter 8 - The Forgery Exposed

I stared at the opposing table in absolute disbelief, feeling the courtroom spin dizzily around me.

I knew the pediatrician was an incredibly ethical woman who would never accept a bribe or falsify a legal document.

Sarah remained completely unfazed, standing up and asking the judge for permission to approach the bench.

She requested to examine the sworn affidavit that had just been submitted into evidence.

The judge handed it down, and Sarah pulled a small jeweler's loupe from her pocket to examine the signature.

“Your Honor, I request a five-minute recess to verify the digital timestamps on this notary stamp,” Sarah stated firmly.

The judge granted the recess, and the smug smile on my husband's face slightly cracked.

Sarah made a rapid phone call to the hospital's legal department, putting them on speakerphone directly in front of the court clerk.

The hospital administrator confirmed that the pediatrician was currently in the middle of a complex, three-hour surgical procedure.

It was physically and medically impossible for her to have signed or notarized any legal documents an hour ago.

The judge's face turned a violent shade of purple as the reality of the severe perjury set in.

He slammed his gavel down, furiously demanding that my husband's lawyer explain the blatant forgery.

The lawyer panicked, instantly throwing his own client under the bus to save his legal license.

“Your Honor, my client handed me that document this morning and swore to its authenticity,” the lawyer stammered.

My husband stood up, his carefully crafted facade crumbling into absolute, frantic desperation.

He pointed a shaking finger directly at his own mother sitting in the gallery.

“She did it, she forged the papers and shaved the kid's head, I had absolutely nothing to do with it!” he screamed.

My mother-in-law gasped loudly, standing up with a look of pure, venomous betrayal on her face.

“You ungrateful coward, I only did this to save you from the cartel you owe half a million dollars to!” she shrieked for the entire courtroom to hear.
