Chapter 9 - Fire on the Water

The blazing red flare struck Marcus with terrifying force, igniting his expensive suit instantly.
He screamed in agonizing pain, dropping his weapons as the chemical fire consumed his chest.
The bodyguards let go of me in pure shock.
I spun around and delivered a brutal punch to the closest guard's jaw, sending him over the railing and into the freezing water.
The second guard raised his rifle, but I tackled him to the wooden deck before he could pull the trigger.
The burning flare had set the highly flammable fuel lines of the yacht completely ablaze.
Massive walls of orange fire erupted across the deck, separating us from the exit ramp.
I scrambled to my feet and grabbed Amelia, pulling her into a desperate, bone-crushing embrace.
"I thought I lost you forever," I choked out over the roaring sound of the flames.
"Get Lily, we have to jump!" Amelia shouted, pointing toward our terrified daughter.
I ran through the growing smoke and scooped Lily securely into my arms.
Suddenly, a badly burned and furious Marcus lunged out of the smoke.
He wrapped his massive hands around my throat, squeezing with insane, murderous strength.
I dropped to my knees, choking as the life was slowly crushed out of me.
Amelia tried to hit him, but Marcus struck her away with a vicious backhand.
I could see black spots dancing in my vision, knowing I was about to die.
Then, a bloody and dying Nora dragged herself across the burning deck.

With the last ounce of her failing strength, she grabbed Marcus by the ankles.
She hurled her body weight off the side of the yacht, dragging my screaming brother down into the burning, churning water below.
