Chapter 10 - The New Empire

The electric shock jolted Dante's body violently, and a steady beep slowly returned to the monitor.

Three weeks later, the sun shone brightly through the windows of a secluded villa in Tuscany.

Dante sat in a wheelchair on the terrace, a thick blanket draped over his healing legs.

He was no longer the Capo of Chicago.

While he was recovering, Amara had used the ledger to systematically dismantle his old empire.

She had legally transferred the legitimate assets into a secure trust for their daughter and surrendered the criminal enterprises to Matteo.

Dante had lost all his power, his feared reputation, and his deadly network.

He had never been happier in his entire life.

Amara walked onto the terrace, resting her hands on her beautifully round belly.

Dante looked up at her with nothing but absolute devotion and subservience in his eyes.

"Do you need anything, my queen?" Dante asked softly.

"Just your promise that you will never look back," Amara replied, smiling as she kissed his forehead.

"I have everything I want right here," he swore, holding her hand against his cheek.

They had finally found peace, their core conflicts buried beneath the ashes of his former life.

Later that afternoon, a courier arrived at the villa's heavy iron gates.

He handed the guards a small, beautifully wrapped package addressed directly to Amara.

Amara opened the box on the kitchen counter while Dante read nearby.

Inside was a solid silver baby rattle and a handwritten note on expensive cream paper.

Amara’s blood ran completely cold as she read the elegant handwriting.

"I survived the gunshot, and I never forget a debt," the note read.

"See you soon, sister."
