Chapter 9 - The Billionaire Gala

Two weeks passed in absolute, agonizing silence at the secluded cabin in the woods.

My physical wounds slowly healed, but my desire for vengeance only grew sharper and more laser-focused.

Flynn and Richard successfully manipulated the mainstream media, reporting that I had gone tragically missing.

They painted Flynn as the heartbroken husband, desperately searching for his mentally unstable wife.

Tonight was the annual Vance Global Shareholder Gala, the most important corporate event of the entire decade.

I stood in front of the cabin mirror, zipping up a breathtaking, blood-red evening gown that Marcus had purchased for me.

Marcus walked into the room wearing a tailored tuxedo, looking incredibly sharp and professional.

"I hacked into the hotel ballroom's audiovisual system this morning," Marcus said, handing me a small black remote control.

"All you have to do is push the button, and the footage will play on every projector screen in the building."

I took the remote, feeling the heavy, satisfying weight of justice resting securely in my palm.

"Thank you for everything, Marcus," I said softly, looking up into his warm eyes.

We drove to the luxury hotel downtown, slipping easily past security using his forged VIP credentials.

We stood in the dark shadows of the grand ballroom balcony, looking down at the hundreds of wealthy elites sipping champagne.

Flynn stepped up to the main podium, the bright spotlight shining directly on his arrogant, smiling face.

Selina was standing right beside him, wearing a priceless diamond necklace that used to belong to my late mother.

Flynn cleared his throat, offering the silent crowd a sad, perfectly practiced smile.

"Thank you all for being here to support me during this incredibly difficult time for my family," Flynn began dramatically.

I stepped out from the shadows of the balcony, resting my hands firmly on the cold marble railing.

"It isn't that difficult, Flynn!" I shouted, my voice echoing loudly across the massive, silent ballroom.

The entire room gasped in unison as every head snapped up to look at the balcony.
