Chapter 8 - The Heist

I watched Wyatt fall to the ground and felt a surge of pure adrenaline.
I sprinted out from behind the crate and grabbed my mother's chair.
I used a broken piece of glass from the floor to furiously slice through her zip ties.
Paige suddenly crashed her car directly through the warehouse loading bay doors.
The vehicle smashed into Dustin's bodyguards and sent them flying into the dark.
"Get in the car right now!" Paige screamed through the shattered windshield.
I dragged my exhausted mother into the backseat and dove into the passenger side.
Paige slammed the car into reverse and tore out of the shipyard just as Dustin fired at our tires.
We sped through the dark city streets toward the federal building downtown.
I held the USB drive tightly in my hand, knowing it was the key to destroying Dustin forever.
We walked into the FBI field office and demanded to speak to a senior agent.
An agent reviewed the files on the USB drive and looked at me with grave concern.
"These files are heavily encrypted with a biometric lock," the agent explained.
He told us that they needed a physical master key located inside the safe in Dustin's corporate office to decrypt the evidence.
If they raided the office without a warrant, Dustin's lawyers would have the evidence thrown out of court.
I realized I was the only person who still had a valid security pass to enter Dustin's building.
I left my mother safely at the FBI office and drove to Dustin's corporate headquarters with Paige.
I used my old keycard to bypass the lobby security and took the elevator to the executive floor.
I crept into Dustin's lavish corner office and found the hidden wall safe behind a painting.
I typed in our old anniversary date and the heavy steel door clicked open.

I grabbed the physical decryption key from the top shelf of the safe.
Suddenly, the cold barrel of a gun was pressed forcefully against the back of my head.
