Chapter 5 - The Shadow Enforcer

The entire ballroom fell completely silent as the head of security remained bowed before me.
Spencer stared at the massive guard, his arrogant brain completely unable to process the impossible scene.
"Ms. Crawford, it is an absolute honor to have the primary shareholder of the grand hotel in attendance," the security chief announced loudly.
A collective gasp echoed through the wealthy crowd as my legendary family name was finally spoken.
Spencer visibly stumbled backward, his face turning the color of pure, white chalk.
He stared at my face intently, finally looking past the glamorous makeup and the expensive gown.
The horrifying realization hit him like a violent, physical blow to the chest.
"Gwen?" Spencer whispered, his voice trembling with a mixture of absolute shock and sheer terror.
Cassandra covered her mouth in disbelief, realizing she had just publicly insulted a billionaire heiress.
Patricia looked like she was about to faint, clutching her pearl necklace with shaking hands.
"You have absolutely no right to be here, you pathetic liar!" Spencer shouted, trying desperately to regain control.
Before I could deliver my verbal response, the heavy mahogany doors of the ballroom swung violently open.
A terrifyingly calm man in a perfectly tailored Italian suit stepped into the luxurious space.
He was followed by four massive, intimidating guards who clearly did not belong at a charity gala.
The music completely stopped, and the wealthy guests scrambled nervously out of the man's path.
He was the primary enforcer for the underground syndicate, and his reputation for absolute brutality was legendary.
He walked directly toward Spencer, his cold eyes completely devoid of any human empathy.
"Mr. Albright, your massive corporate loan is officially in default as of eight o'clock this evening," the enforcer stated smoothly.
Spencer began to sweat profusely, wiping his forehead with a trembling, expensive silk handkerchief.
"There must be a banking error, I can absolutely get you the money by tomorrow morning," Spencer pleaded desperately.
The enforcer simply smiled, a terrifying expression that promised immense pain and suffering.
"We do not offer extensions, Spencer, and we do not accept pathetic excuses."
He pulled a crisp, folded legal document from the inside pocket of his expensive suit jacket.
"I am here tonight to legally collect the collateral you guaranteed in this contract."
Spencer coward violently, hiding entirely behind Cassandra's fragile frame in a pathetic display of fear.
He frantically pointed a shaking finger directly at my face to deflect the enforcer's dangerous attention.
"The loan is in her name, she is the one who owes you the money!" Spencer screamed hysterically.
May you like
"Take her instead, she is the one who signed the guarantor documents!"
The enforcer slowly turned his head and locked his cold, deadly eyes perfectly on me.
