Chapter 7 - The Breach

Alessandro tackled me to the marble floor.
He shielded my body with his own as glass shattered everywhere.
He dragged me crawling toward a hidden panel behind a bookshelf.
He pressed his thumb against a scanner, and a heavy steel door slid open.
We tumbled into a fortified panic room just as mercenaries breached the penthouse.
Alessandro was bleeding from a graze on his left shoulder.
He ignored his own wound and checked me frantically for injuries.
He cupped my face and told me he had not stopped thinking about me since that night.
He confessed that our connection was real, regardless of my false identity.
We looked up at the security monitors mounted on the steel wall.
The mercenaries were tearing his beautiful apartment apart.
