Chapter 4 - The Real Name

He knew my real name.
I backed up against the brick wall of the diner.
I asked him how he knew who I really was.
Alessandro closed the distance between us in three long strides.
He told me he had investigated every person working at the gala that night.
He wanted to know why I had disappeared from his bed before dawn.
I tried to act tough and tell him it was just a one-night stand.
Before the words could leave my mouth, a wave of intense dizziness hit me.
The stress and the morning sickness finally took their toll.
My knees buckled completely.
Alessandro caught me easily in his strong arms before I hit the pavement.
I woke up twenty minutes later in the back seat of his moving limousine.
A private doctor was sitting across from me, packing away a blood pressure cuff.
Alessandro was staring at me with a terrifyingly blank expression.

He held up a thick manila folder.
"My doctor just confirmed what you are hiding from me," Alessandro said coldly.
