Chapter 2 - The Stolen Secret
I stopped breathing when I heard the billionaire's name.
Alessandro Vitali was the man whose baby was currently growing inside me.
Liam backed away with his hands raised in terrified surrender.
"I swear I do not have the flash drive anymore," Liam pleaded.
The armed man stepped closer and pressed the gun directly to Liam's chest.
"Then where is it?" the man demanded in a deadly whisper.
Liam pointed a trembling finger directly at me.
"She has it," Liam lied without any hesitation.
My heart dropped into my stomach as the three men turned to look at me.
I shook my head and swore I had no idea what they were talking about.
The leader grabbed my arm violently.
I screamed and kicked his shin with my heavy work boot.
The man stumbled back and cursed loudly.
Police sirens suddenly wailed from the street outside our building.
The neighbors must have called the cops when the door was kicked down.
The men cursed again and quickly escaped down the rusted fire escape.
I turned to Liam with pure fury in my eyes.
Before I could yell at him, Liam walked past me into the bathroom.

"You are pregnant with the billionaire's kid, aren't you?" Liam smiled wickedly.
