I tried to open the car door, but it was locked from the driver's panel.
Alessandro told me I was never going back to that cheap apartment.
He said the mother of his heir would live under his protection.
The limousine pulled into an underground garage beneath a towering skyscraper.
He escorted me up a private elevator to a massive, glittering penthouse.
He ordered me to rest while he took a business call in his office.
I was left alone in a living room made of glass and marble.

Alessandro was facing the window, speaking rapidly in Italian on his phone.
I looked down at his massive oak desk.
A framed photograph was sitting near his computer monitor.
I gasped softly and covered my mouth to muffle the sound.
The picture showed my parents smiling brightly.

They were standing shoulder to shoulder with Alessandro's late father.
The date stamped on the bottom of the photo was the exact day my parents died.
