Chapter 4 - The Eviction Notice

Daniel hung up the phone, his expression turning to stone.

He realized his father’s financial crimes were not just white-collar embezzlement.

Richard had borrowed capital from a dangerous criminal syndicate to cover his initial losses, using the family home as collateral.

When the jet landed in Ohio at dawn, Daniel did not go straight to the hotel.

He drove directly to his father’s suburban house with a team of private security contractors.

Richard and Denise were frantically packing suitcases in the living room when the front door was kicked open.

Four large men in tactical gear stepped into the foyer, securing the perimeter.

Daniel walked in behind them, wearing a sharp tailored suit and carrying a legal folder.

Richard tried to puff up his chest, demanding to know what Daniel thought he was doing.

Daniel calmly dropped a court-approved eviction notice onto the coffee table.

He informed them that he had bought the mortgage from the bank three years ago.

Since they had missed their hidden secondary payments, he was legally seizing the property effective immediately.

Denise started crying, begging Daniel to consider that they were family.

Daniel looked at her with utter disgust and reminded her exactly where his daughter had been at midnight.

He told them they had five minutes to leave the premises with only the clothes on their backs.

Richard sneered, claiming that if Daniel kicked them out, the people Richard owed money to would come after Emma.

He thought this threat would make Daniel back down.

Instead, Daniel smiled a cold, calculating smile.

He pulled out his phone and showed his father a live video feed.

The video showed the local police and FBI agents raiding the syndicate’s underground warehouse based on the evidence Emma had secured.

Richard collapsed onto the sofa, realizing his ultimate trump card was entirely gone.

But as the security team began physically removing Denise from the house, Daniel’s phone rang again.

It was the federal agent in charge of the warehouse raid.

The agent told Daniel they found the syndicate’s ledger, but there was a massive problem.

The primary name listed on the syndicate’s payroll was not Richard Mercer.
