Chapter 7 - The Counterattack

I closed my fist around the small, folded pocket knife Emily always carried on her keychain.

I stood up slowly, keeping the weapon completely hidden inside the sleeve of my tuxedo jacket.

I walked over to the metal table where Greg was holding the digital biometric scanner.

I extended my right hand, pretending to comply with their financial demands.

Just as my thumb touched the glowing glass screen, I intentionally tripped over my own feet.

As I stumbled forward, I flicked the pocket knife open and slashed the blade fiercely across Greg's wrist.

Greg screamed in absolute agony, dropping the expensive scanner as blood sprayed across the table.

I did not hesitate, driving my elbow directly into Greg's throat and crushing his windpipe.

He collapsed to the floor, gasping helplessly for air.

Marcus roared in anger and charged at me with the heavy steel crowbar raised high above his head.

I dodged the brutal swing, the crowbar sparking against the concrete floor right where I had been standing.

I tackled my brother around the waist, using my momentum to drive him hard into the ground.

We wrestled violently, trading devastating punches as decades of hidden resentment finally exploded.

I managed to pin his arms down, raising my fist to deliver a knockout blow.

Then I heard the terrifying click of a gun hammer being pulled back.

I looked up and saw Laura aiming her pistol directly at my face, her hands shaking with murderous intent.

Before she could pull the trigger, a blindingly bright spotlight suddenly shattered the warehouse skylight.

"Drop your weapons and put your hands in the air!" a booming voice commanded from a police helicopter hovering directly above us.
