Chapter 3 - The Brother's Betrayal

I drove to the luxury medical clinic like a man possessed by demons.
I ignored every speed limit and red light, my mind consumed by the terrifying image of Emily bleeding in her kitchen.
When I arrived at the clinic, I marched straight past the reception desk and ignored the protesting nurses.
I knew exactly which VIP suite Marcus had been staying in.
I kicked the wooden door open, fully expecting to find my brother hiding inside.
The room was completely empty, the bed perfectly made, and the closets cleared out.
But sitting in the center of the pristine glass coffee table was a sleek silver laptop.
The screen was glowing brightly in the dim room.
I walked over and saw a live surveillance feed playing on the monitor.
The video showed a dark, damp concrete room that looked like an abandoned warehouse.
Emily was tied to a heavy metal chair in the center of the frame, her face bruised and her clothes torn.
She was weeping silently, looking absolutely terrified.
Then, a man walked into the camera's view.
It was Marcus.
He was wearing an expensive suit and holding a thick stack of legal documents.
He did not look like a man recovering from a major surgery.
He looked strong, ruthless, and entirely in control.
He slapped Emily across the face, causing her to cry out in pain.
I screamed at the computer screen, slamming my fists helplessly against the glass table.

Marcus slowly turned his head and looked directly into the camera lens.
"I know you are watching, Arthur, because I intentionally left this laptop for you to find," Marcus said with a cold, cruel smile.
