Chapter 10 - The Seat of Power
Maribel screams in absolute agony as the sharp stone shrapnel deeply slices her face and arms.
She collapses onto the cathedral floor, utterly defeated and rapidly bleeding from a dozen minor wounds.
Leandro aggressively steps forward and kicks Maribel’s weapon far out of her desperate reach.
Daphne rushes quickly down the cathedral stairs, closely supporting Estelle, who is completely unharmed.
“The blood on the chain was fake, Leandro, I entirely managed to overpower her incompetent guards upstairs,” Daphne explains with a bright smile.
Leandro pulls Daphne into a passionate, deeply relieved kiss, completely ignoring the groaning villain on the floor.
He then turns to his mother, gently wrapping his strong arms securely around Estelle’s shaking shoulders.
“The nightmare is finally over, Mom, we have completely won our lives back,” Leandro promises her warmly.
Federal sirens begin wailing loudly outside the cathedral doors, fully responding to the anonymous tip Daphne called in.
“Maribel will spend the rest of her miserable life rotting in a federal supermax prison for her father's murder,” Daphne states confidently.
Leandro picks up the decorative silver chain from the floor and carefully wipes it completely clean.
He gently places it securely back around Estelle’s neck, exactly where it rightfully belongs.
The next evening, Leandro formally takes his completely rightful place at the absolute head of the newly reformed Mafia council.
Daphne sits proudly and firmly by his side as his true equal, fully respected by every single family boss.
Estelle rests comfortably in her rightful banquet chair, warmly smiling at the beautiful couple.
The family has entirely found absolute peace, successfully turning their dark legacy into a legitimate, thriving empire.
However, a heavily disguised courier suddenly places a small, unmarked wooden box directly onto Leandro’s desk.
Leandro cautiously opens the box, finding a pitch-black steel chain resting on black velvet.
