Chapter 6 - The Lion's Den

"Isabella, no!" I screamed frantically, scrambling out of the boat to catch her.

She completely ignored me and kept walking steadily up the grassy hill.

I couldn't just let a seven-year-old girl face a ruthless cartel boss completely alone.

I told Ellie to hide under the boat seats, then I ran furiously after Isabella.

When we reached the grand front lawn, the terrifying sight made my blood run cold.

Vincent and Luca were tied tightly to heavy stone pillars, both severely beaten and bruised.

Marco stood in front of them, holding a silver lighter and a red canister of gasoline.

Dominic stood quietly in the shadows behind him, his gun still drawn.

"Well, well, the mute princess finally returns," Marco laughed viciously.

Vincent struggled violently against his thick ropes, tears streaming down his bruised face.

"Don't hurt her, Marco, please!" Vincent begged pathetically.

"Give me the drive, little bird," Marco demanded, holding out his greedy hand.

Isabella stopped walking and looked directly into her wicked uncle's eyes.

She slowly reached into the pocket of her pale blue dress.

But she didn't pull out the black flash drive.

She pulled out the small brass key to her mother's swan music box.

"You don't have it," Marco realized, his cruel smile instantly dropping.

He grabbed Isabella violently by her fragile throat and lifted her off the ground.

"Where is the drive, you little freak?!" Marco roared in total fury.

Suddenly, a loud, piercing sniper shot echoed loudly from the dark woods.

Marco's silver lighter exploded completely into pieces right inside his hand.
