Chapter 4 - The Brother's Betrayal
I covered my mouth in absolute shock as the horrific video ended.
Vincent's own brother had ruthlessly murdered his beloved wife.
"Marco has been planning this hostile takeover for five years," Luca growled angrily.
"He used Dominic as his intelligent puppet to slowly poison the entire syndicate."
Ellie buried her small face entirely into my chest, quietly crying into her stuffed rabbit.
"We have to call the police," I pleaded desperately to the bleeding enforcer.
Luca shook his head rapidly, wincing in immense physical pain.
"The local police chief works directly for Marco."
"If we call them, they will just deliver us straight to the basement to be executed."
Luca looked deeply into Isabella's terrified, tear-filled eyes.
"Your father loves you more than anything in this entire world, Bella."
"I am going to get him back for you, I promise."
Luca stood up slowly, clutching his bleeding shoulder with a grimace.
He handed me the encrypted smartphone holding the vital evidence.
"Take the girls through the old prohibition tunnels under the wine cellar."
"They lead directly out to the private docks by the lake."
"Wait for me by the speedboat for exactly ten minutes."
"If I don't show up, you start the engine and drive as fast as you can."

Before I could even protest, Luca pushed the hidden door open and stepped out into the hallway.
A deafening barrage of machine-gun fire instantly ripped through the wooden doorframe.
