Chapter 6 - The Bitter Truth

Dante touched the cracked screen, his fingers trembling with absolute rage.
The photograph proved that his wife had been having a secret affair with his own cousin.
"He did not just kill her, he stole her from me first," Dante whispered brokenly.
Clara placed a comforting hand on his uninjured shoulder.
"We need the evidence inside this phone to prove Julian is the killer," Clara reminded him.
Dante nodded slowly, his eyes hardening with a terrifying, cold resolve.
He turned to Dr. Aris, who was currently cleaning his surgical tools.
"I need you to bypass the passcode on this device immediately," Dante ordered.
The doctor nervously wiped his sweating forehead with a rag.
"I am a surgeon, not a hacker, Dante," Dr. Aris protested weakly.
"You used to wipe burner phones for the cartel, do not lie to me," Dante threatened.
Dr. Aris sighed heavily and connected the old phone to his personal laptop.
His fingers flew across the keyboard, running a brute-force decryption program.
Sophia sat quietly on a metal chair, drawing small circles on a medical notepad.
Clara noticed the doctor kept glancing nervously at the security monitor on his desk.
"How long will this take?" Clara asked suspiciously.
"Almost done," the doctor replied, his voice shaking slightly.
The laptop chimed loudly, indicating the passcode had been successfully bypassed.
Dante stepped forward eagerly to grab the phone.
Dr. Aris suddenly spun around and plunged a syringe full of clear liquid into Dante's neck.

Dante gasped in shock, stumbling backward as the powerful paralytic drug entered his bloodstream.
"I am so sorry, Dante, but Julian promised me two million dollars," Dr. Aris whispered.
