Chapter 2 - The Escape

"Drop the gun, Dante," the taller guard ordered nervously.
Julian had obviously paid them a fortune to betray their boss tonight.
Dante did not drop his weapon.
Instead, he threw himself backward into the two traitors before they could pull their triggers.
The hallway erupted into chaotic violence.
Dante disarmed the first man with a brutal strike to the throat.
He fired two rapid shots, dropping both traitors to the expensive carpet.
"Run!" Dante screamed at Clara.
Julian and Detective Vance began firing up the stairs from the foyer.
Bullets shattered the antique vases and tore through the expensive wallpaper.
Clara scooped Sophia into her arms and sprinted down the west corridor.
Dante backed away slowly, providing covering fire to keep Julian pinned down.
Marco emerged from the study, holding the cracked phone in one hand and a submachine gun in the other.
"The phone is dead, but I have the charger," Marco yelled over the gunfire.
"Get them to the safe house," Dante ordered his loyal bodyguard.
Marco grabbed Clara's shoulder and shoved her toward a hidden servant staircase.
They descended into total darkness, the sound of heavy boots echoing above them.
They reached the underground garage just as Julian's reinforcement vehicles smashed through the front gates.
Marco pushed Clara and Sophia into the back of a bulletproof black SUV.
He tossed the dead phone into Clara's lap.
Before Marco could climb into the driver's seat, a sniper bullet shattered the garage window and struck his chest.
Marco collapsed onto the concrete floor, bleeding heavily.

Julian stepped out of the shadows with a smoking rifle and smiled.
"You really thought you could leave the property?" Julian asked.
