Chapter 5 - The Unexpected Guest

The cold, metallic click of the gun's hammer echoed terrifyingly in the tense room.
I stared down the dark barrel of the weapon, calculating my incredibly slim chances of survival.
Claire hysterically crawled toward her husband, desperately grabbing at his pant leg.
She screamed that this was never part of the original plan and begged him to spare my life.
Evan viciously kicked her away, completely discarding his loving husband persona.
He told Claire that she was nothing more than a convenient pawn in his desperate game.
He sneered that he would gladly shoot her too if it made the fake robbery look more convincing.
Arthur whimpered pathetically in the corner, holding his hands up in a desperate plea for mercy.
Before Evan could pull the heavy trigger, a loud, urgent knock rattled the front door.
Everyone in the room froze instantly.
A muffled voice called out from the porch, loudly identifying himself as Daniel from the restaurant.
The brave young waiter had apparently followed us home to ensure I was actually safe.
Evan's eyes darted toward the door with absolute, murderous rage.
He swiftly unlocked the deadbolt, yanked the door open, and grabbed Daniel by his uniform collar.
He violently dragged the terrified young man inside and slammed the door shut again.
Daniel stumbled onto the hardwood floor, staring in absolute horror at the suppressed pistol.
Evan pressed the hot barrel of the gun directly against Daniel's trembling temple.
