Chapter 7 - The Blood Moon

The dark forest behind the estate was freezing and completely merciless.

Harper wore only a light jacket and her practical black boots.

She had exactly four hours to survive until midnight.

Vivian had deployed six of her elite trackers to hunt her down.

Harper knew she could never outrun a werewolf in the open woods.

She used her scentless human nature as her only real advantage.

She waded waist-deep through an icy river to completely mask her trail.

She climbed high into the dense canopy of an ancient pine tree.

Two massive wolves passed directly beneath her branch without stopping.

Harper shivered violently but refused to make a single sound.

She waited until the area was clear before dropping back to the ground.

Her boot suddenly caught on a hidden, rusted metal grate hidden beneath the dirt.

The ground gave way entirely.

Harper plummeted into a pitch-black underground tunnel.

She landed hard on a concrete floor, knocking the breath from her lungs.

She pulled out a small flashlight Gideon had secretly slipped into her pocket.

The beam illuminated a massive steel cell at the end of the corridor.

A severely malnourished man was chained to the concrete wall.

He looked up, revealing eyes identical to Kane's.
