Chapter 6 - The Lethal Loophole

The silence in the dining room was heavy and suffocating.
Kane stared at the signature with his eyes glowing a dangerous gold.
He told Silas that he would tear the contract to shreds.
Silas calmly replied that breaking an ancient blood pact would start a civil war.
Vivian smiled triumphantly and ordered her guards to seize Harper.
Harper forced her panicked mind into strict business survival mode.
She had spent five years memorizing archaic pack laws to save her father.
She stepped out of Kane's protective shadow and picked up the contract.
She pointed to a microscopic clause buried at the bottom of the page.
The clause stated that a transferred asset could invoke the Right of the Hunt.
If the asset survived until midnight, all ownership claims were immediately voided.
Silas turned completely pale at her vast legal knowledge.
Vivian laughed coldly and reminded her that no human had ever survived the Hunt.
Kane grabbed Harper's arm and begged her not to do this.
Harper looked up at the terrifying Alpha King and gently touched his cheek.
She told him she was tired of men deciding her entire future.
She officially invoked the Hunt.

Silas slammed his gavel down to seal the lethal binding.
He announced that Kane was strictly forbidden from entering the forest tonight.
