Chapter 10 - The False Victory
The sun rose over the Croft Estate, bringing an end to the horrific night.
Kane officially presented Harper to the entire pack as his destined mate.
Elder Silas was locked in the underground bunker to await his execution.
The massive Cascade Pack debt was completely forgiven and erased.
Kane took Harper back to his private wing to finally rest.
He kissed her deeply, pouring all of his protective love into the moment.
Harper felt a profound sense of absolute peace for the first time in years.
She finally had a true home, a family, and a man who genuinely respected her.
She stepped into the bathroom to wash the dried dirt from her exhausted face.
She picked up her phone and dialed her younger sister Chloe to share the good news.
Chloe answered the phone on the very first ring.
Harper cheerfully told her that everything was finally going to be okay.
Chloe did not express any relief or happiness at all.
Her voice was completely cold and entirely devoid of human emotion.
Chloe whispered that she was so sorry, but Father said the failsafe had to be activated.
Harper frowned in deep confusion and asked her what she meant.
Her father's voice suddenly crackled over the speaker, speaking a strange, ancient Latin phrase.
A blinding, agonizing pain violently exploded behind Harper's eyes.

She dropped the phone and stared at her own reflection in the bathroom mirror.
Her warm brown eyes were rapidly turning into a bright, glowing, synthetic silver.
