The Croft Estate went into a complete military lockdown by sunrise.
Twelve members of the Alpha Council arrived in heavily armored vehicles.
They gathered in the grand dining room to pass judgment on the night's events.
Elder Silas led the aggressive interrogation with a furious scowl.
He demanded that Harper be executed for bringing a Cascade assassin into their home.
Kane slammed his fist onto the marble table hard enough to crack the stone.
He declared that Harper was his chosen mate and future Luna.
The entire room erupted into chaotic, angry shouting.
Vivian Mercer stood up and demanded silence from the powerful men.
She stated that Harper's bloodline was too weak to bear an Alpha heir.
Harper stepped forward and looked directly into Vivian's smug face.
She pointed out that Vivian's sister was currently locked in a padded cell.
She calmly stated that sanity was clearly not a Mercer family trait.
Several council members actively tried to hide their amused chuckles.
Silas silenced the room by pulling a folded document from his dark suit.
He slammed the paper onto the table for Kane to read.
It was a legally binding territorial transfer signed by Richard Hayes.
