Chapter 3 - The Interrogation

Dante stormed into the bedroom with the terrifying force of a violent hurricane.
The doctor stumbled backward in pure terror, practically dropping his medical bag onto the floor.
"Get out of here right now," Dante snarled at the trembling physician.
The doctor scrambled out of the room without saying another word, leaving me completely alone with the most dangerous man in the city.
Dante slowly closed the broken door as best as he could and locked his cold eyes onto mine.
He walked over to the velvet armchair, sat down gracefully, and pulled a sleek tablet from his jacket pocket.
"You claim you were just waiting for a bus last night," he stated smoothly.
"I can easily prove it if you just let me check my bank account or call my terrible boss," I fired back defensively.
Dante ignored my desperate plea and tapped the glowing screen of his tablet.
He tossed the expensive device onto the bed right in front of me.
"Then I suggest you explain this security footage to me very carefully."
I cautiously picked up the tablet and pressed play on the paused video.
The footage showed a grainy street corner illuminated by a flickering streetlamp.
A woman was standing nervously near a public payphone, clutching a piece of paper.
She picked up the receiver, dialed a number, and spoke aggressively into the phone for exactly one minute.
Then she turned her face directly toward the hidden security camera.
My breath hitched violently in my throat, and I almost dropped the tablet onto the floor.
The woman in the video had my exact face, my exact hair, and my exact height.
"That is the exact moment the kidnappers called my private line to demand ten million dollars," Dante whispered dangerously.
I shook my head frantically, tears of absolute panic welling up in my eyes.
"That is not me, I swear to God that is not me!" I cried.
Dante stood up slowly and pulled a silver pistol from his shoulder holster.
"I really hate liars, Maya."
"I am a twin!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.

Dante froze completely still, his finger hovering lightly over the trigger.
"Her name is Chloe, and I have not seen her in ten entire years."
