Chapter 7 - The Whistleblower

Marcus walked down the center aisle of the courtroom. Behind him was a man in handcuffs, escorted by two FBI agents.

It was Jessica’s cousin, Bradley. The man who had managed her offshore accounts.

Jessica’s face turned the color of ash. She gripped the edge of the plaintiff's table so hard her knuckles went white.

"Your Honor, I apologize for the interruption," Marcus said, handing a flash drive to the bailiff. "But we just flipped a federal witness. Bradley Lawson was arrested at the airport two hours ago trying to flee the country. In exchange for immunity, he has handed over the original audio recordings."

Our lawyer plugged the drive into the court's audio system.

Suddenly, Jessica’s voice echoed through the courtroom, crisp and clear.

"I don't care how you do it, Brad. Dress up a notary like a clinic worker. Hide the custody transfer page under the medical release forms. Just get her signature. Once I have the babies, David will be tied to me forever, and we control his entire estate."

The silence in the courtroom was absolute.

Jessica’s lawyers slowly stepped away from her, packing their briefcases. They knew when a ship was sinking.
