Chapter 10 - The Promise of Tomorrow

Two years later.
The Texas sun was setting, casting a warm, golden glow over the backyard of our new estate. The air was filled with the smell of barbecue and the sound of pure, unadulterated laughter.
Leo and Lucas were two years old now. They were running across the grass, their little legs carrying them as fast as they could, chasing a golden retriever puppy.

"They're getting too fast for the dog," Sarah laughed, resting her chin on my shoulder as we watched the boys play.
"They take after their mother," I smiled, turning around to pull her into my arms. "Strong, resilient, and impossible to catch."
She looked up at me, her eyes filled with a love that had survived the absolute worst of human betrayal and come out stronger on the other side.

I had almost lost everything because of a lie. But standing there, holding the woman I loved and watching our sons play in the fading light, I knew one thing for certain.
I would never let them go again.
