Chapter 9 - The Final Standoff
I left my father safely in the custody of my medical team and completely geared up for the final confrontation.
I logged into my secure corporate server and executed a highly classified financial protocol I had designed years ago.
Within thirty seconds, I completely froze every single global asset connected to the cartel's hidden banking network.
I sped toward the private airstrip just outside the city, my mind operating with absolute, cold precision.
A sleek, unmarked private jet was idling loudly on the tarmac, its engines ready for immediate takeoff.
My mother stood near the metal boarding stairs, holding a heavy silver revolver pressed directly against Emily's trembling head.
I stepped out of my armored vehicle, entirely unarmed, holding only a small, glowing digital tablet.
"You always were too smart for your own good, Ethan," my mother yelled over the deafening roar of the jet engines.
"Let her go, and I will unlock the offshore accounts," I negotiated, slowly walking toward the deadly standoff.
"Transfer the funds right now, or I blow her brains all over this runway," she demanded, her eyes completely wild with greed.
I tapped the screen of my tablet, instantly initiating a massive transfer of fake, heavily tracked dummy funds.
Her phone buzzed loudly, confirming the massive deposit had successfully entered her offshore account.
She smiled a wicked, triumphant smile and aggressively shoved Emily away from her body.
Emily stumbled and fell hard onto the wet tarmac, scrambling desperately away from the dangerous woman.
My mother turned gracefully toward the stairs of the jet, completely believing she had finally won the ultimate prize.
She suddenly stopped, raising her heavy revolver and aiming it directly at my chest with a cruel smirk.

"No loose ends," she declared coldly, fully preparing to murder her only son in cold blood.
She squeezed the trigger, and a deafening gunshot violently shattered the quiet night air.
