Chapter 6 - The Mother of All Lies

I stared at the bloody note in the commander's hand, my mind completely rejecting the impossible words.
My mother had supposedly died in a tragic car accident when I was only eight years old.
The idea that she was alive and actively running a violent international cartel was absolutely insane.
"Trace the origin of Victor's cellular signal immediately," I commanded my elite tech team over the radio.
Emily sat paralyzed on the hospital floor, completely unable to process the horrifying revelation about our mother.
"It has to be a lie meant to mess with our heads," Emily whispered, desperately grasping for any logical explanation.
I did not have time to comfort her or entertain philosophical doubts about my family tree.
My tech lead pinged my phone with a precise GPS coordinate located at an abandoned naval shipyard on the coast.
I strapped a Kevlar vest over my tailored suit and loaded a tactical pistol with cold precision.
"Keep my sister perfectly safe in this room," I ordered my remaining guards before heading out the door.
My private convoy of armored black vehicles tore through the dark city streets at breakneck speeds.
We breached the rusted gates of the abandoned shipyard and silently surrounded the massive central warehouse.
I kicked open the side door and moved through the shadows with my heavily armed mercenary team.
We eliminated four cartel guards using suppressed weapons, clearing the path to the main holding area.
I peered around a stack of wooden shipping crates and finally spotted my father tied to a metal chair.
I broke from cover and sprinted toward him to cut the thick ropes binding his wrists.

Before I could reach him, my father suddenly stood up and pulled a hidden handgun from his hospital gown.
He aimed the trembling barrel directly at my chest, his eyes filled with absolute, terrifying sorrow.
