Chapter 8 - The Emergency Delivery

"Rachel, the baby is coming right now," Evelyn gasped, falling heavily to her knees.

Rachel abandoned the window entirely and rushed to Evelyn's side to support her weight.

The extreme stress of the violent armed standoff had instantly triggered full, unstoppable labor.

Eleanor ran back inside the house, quickly locking the heavy front door behind her.

"The ambulance cannot get through the police barricade at the gate," Eleanor announced grimly.

Evelyn cried out in agony as another massive contraction tore through her exhausted body.

"We cannot wait for the paramedics, he is coming too fast," Evelyn sobbed in pain.

Eleanor quickly transformed the large living room into a makeshift delivery suite.

She ordered Rachel to gather clean towels, boiling water, and the first aid medical kit.

Evelyn lay on the comfortable sofa, breathing rapidly and gripping Eleanor's strong hand.

"You are stronger than any man in this family, Evelyn," Eleanor encouraged her fiercely.

The police lights flashed brightly through the large living room windows, creating a chaotic atmosphere.

Evelyn pushed with absolutely everything she had, completely determined to bring her son into a safe world.

"I can see the head, you are doing wonderfully," Eleanor coached with surprising medical precision.

Evelyn let out a final, deafening scream as she pushed with all her remaining strength.

A beautiful, sharp cry instantly echoed through the grand, historic living room.

Eleanor gently caught the tiny baby boy and quickly wrapped him in a warm, clean towel.

"He is absolutely perfect, Evelyn," Rachel cried happily, wiping tears from her own face.

They carefully placed the fragile newborn onto Evelyn's chest for skin-to-skin contact.

Evelyn looked down at her beautiful son, feeling a profound, overwhelming wave of pure love.

Every single ounce of pain and betrayal from the past week completely washed away.

She had successfully survived the poison, the theft, and the terrifying violence to save him.

The paramedics finally rushed through the front door, bringing specialized medical equipment inside.

They quickly assessed the healthy baby and prepared to transport them both to the hospital for observation.

As they rolled Evelyn toward the waiting ambulance, her cell phone vibrated in her coat pocket.

It was a collect call directly from the federal penitentiary holding Nathan.
