Chapter 5 - The Forged Signature

Evelyn stared at the banking alert, her heart pounding furiously against her ribs.
Fifty million dollars was the exact amount needed to finalize the corporate merger Brooke wanted.
"They just bypassed the dual-authentication security protocol," Evelyn told Rachel in shock.
Rachel immediately dialed the bank's fraud department to freeze the massive transaction.
"Only Nathan had the secondary physical token required to authorize that transfer," Rachel realized angrily.
Nathan had officially chosen to steal from his pregnant wife to please his manipulative mistress.
Eleanor entered the hospital room carrying a fresh thermos of hot tea.
Evelyn quickly explained the desperate financial theft Nathan had just attempted.
Eleanor's elegant face hardened into a mask of pure, terrifying aristocratic fury.
"He has officially crossed a line that cannot ever be uncrossed," Eleanor stated coldly.
Evelyn called her lead attorney and authorized a complete, devastating legal strike.
She filed for immediate divorce, sole custody of the baby, and emergency financial injunctions.
Meanwhile, back at the Greenwich estate, Nathan was pacing the luxurious library.
Brooke sat comfortably on the leather sofa, sipping expensive scotch from a crystal glass.
"The money should clear into my holding account by tomorrow morning," Brooke smiled greedily.
"I still can't believe Evelyn tried to hide the true ownership of the trust from me," Nathan complained.
He completely justified his massive theft as simply taking back what was rightfully his.
Suddenly, the heavy wooden doors of the library burst open violently.
Three men wearing dark suits and federal badges walked confidently into the room.
"Nathan Carter, you are under arrest for massive wire fraud and corporate embezzlement," the lead agent announced.
Nathan dropped his phone in sheer terror, raising his trembling hands in the air.
"This is a massive misunderstanding, my wife authorized that transfer," Nathan lied desperately.
The agent pulled out a pair of heavy steel handcuffs and walked toward him.
"Your wife is the one who officially supplied the evidence to indict you," the agent smirked.
Nathan looked pleadingly at Brooke for support or a clever legal defense.

Brooke simply stood up, smoothed her expensive skirt, and casually walked toward the door.
"I have absolutely never met this criminal before in my life," Brooke told the federal agents.
