Chapter 9 - The Pre-Wedding Dinner

Daniel invited his entire corporate board of directors and Vanessa’s elite socialite friends to a lavish dinner party at the mansion.
He claimed the elegant evening was a celebration of his miraculous recovery and their upcoming wedding.
The grand dining room was filled with crystal glasses, expensive champagne, and the sound of false laughter.
Daniel sat at the head of the massive mahogany table in a luxurious wheelchair, playing the role of a weak, damaged man perfectly.
Vanessa sat right beside him, wearing a stunning diamond necklace bought entirely with his money.
She stood up and gracefully tapped her silver spoon against her crystal champagne flute.
The entire room fell into a respectful, attentive silence.
"Thank you all for coming tonight to support us during this incredibly tragic time," Vanessa began, her voice dripping with fake sorrow.
She reached down and gently placed her hand over Daniel's arm.
"As many of you know, Daniel's terrible fall caused severe, irreversible brain damage," she lied flawlessly to the crowd.
The board members exchanged nervous, terrified glances, worrying about the future of the billion-dollar company.
Vanessa reached into her designer bag and pulled out a stack of heavy legal documents.
"Therefore, I have filed the necessary medical paperwork to establish an immediate, permanent conservatorship," she announced proudly.
She handed the forged medical documents to the lead corporate attorney sitting across the table.
"I will be taking total control of Whitfield Development effective immediately," Vanessa declared with a triumphant, wicked smile.
The room erupted into shocked whispers and panicked murmurs.
Grace stood quietly in the corner of the dining room, holding a silver serving tray with trembling hands.
She made direct eye contact with Daniel and gave him a single, confident nod.
Daniel slowly reached down and unbuckled the safety strap of his wheelchair.
He stood up smoothly, standing tall and imposing at the head of the long table.
The shocked whispers instantly stopped, and the dining room plunged into absolute, deafening silence.
Vanessa took a terrified step backward, dropping her crystal champagne glass onto the expensive rug.

"I am afraid my medical condition has been slightly exaggerated, Vanessa," Daniel said in a booming, powerful voice.
He offered his horrified fiancée a smile that was colder than the marble floor she had left him to die on.
