Chapter 8 - The Sabotaged Brakes

Daniel walked back to the master bedroom with a cold, terrifying clarity in his mind.
He realized he needed to strike first before Vanessa could execute her final, fatal plan.
He secretly messaged his corporate lawyers on a heavily encrypted secure line.
He ordered them to completely cut Vanessa out of his will and freeze every single joint account they shared.
The next morning, Daniel pretended to complain about a severe migraine.
"I need to go to the pharmacy downtown to get my special medication," Daniel mumbled, rubbing his temples.
Vanessa immediately rushed to his side with her fake, sickeningly sweet smile.
"You are much too weak to drive, darling," Vanessa cooed, gently pushing him back onto the pillows.
"I will take your sports car and run the errand for you right now."
Daniel agreed, thanking her profusely for being such a wonderful and caring fiancée.
He watched her walk out of the room, knowing she was walking directly into a trap.
Ten minutes earlier, Grace had gone out to the massive garage to sweep the floors.
She had noticed a strange puddle of dark, slippery fluid pooling directly underneath Daniel's luxury sports car.
Someone had completely severed the high-pressure brake lines during the night.
Vanessa walked confidently into the garage, completely unaware that Daniel knew about the sabotage.
She opened the door of the sports car, planning to drive it into a wall to finish the assassination plot herself.
But as she reached for the keys, she noticed a cheap burner phone sitting on the passenger seat.
Daniel watched the security camera feed from his tablet as Vanessa picked up the phone.
The screen of the burner phone lit up with a single, unread text message.
"The brakes are cut, and the job is done, Vanessa," the message read.
Vanessa looked around the empty garage in absolute, sheer panic.
She realized the mechanic had made a catastrophic mistake and left the evidence in plain sight.
She frantically shoved the burner phone into her designer purse and ran back into the mansion.
Daniel smiled coldly at the security monitor and locked his tablet away.

The trap was finally set, and his treacherous fiancée had just taken the bait.
He was going to destroy her publicly in front of everyone she had ever lied to.
