Chapter 6 - The Uninvited Guest

The dangerous man on the porch did not offer a polite greeting.
He casually pushed past Grace and stepped directly into the grand foyer of the mansion.
Daniel watched the entire terrifying scene unfold from the dark shadows at the top of the staircase.
Vanessa walked out of the dining room and froze completely when she saw the intruder.
The color instantly drained from her perfectly contoured face.
"What are you doing here?" Vanessa hissed, glancing nervously up the stairs to make sure Daniel was not around.
The man smiled, revealing a row of perfectly white, predatory teeth.
"You missed your payment this month, Vanessa," the man said in a chillingly calm voice.
"My boss is losing his patience, and he wants his money by Friday."
Vanessa crossed her arms and glared at the man with absolute desperation.
"The billionaire is going to have another tragic accident before the end of the week," Vanessa promised in a harsh whisper.
"Just give me three more days, and you will have every single penny I owe you."
The man chuckled darkly and turned toward the front door to leave.
But as he walked past Grace, he suddenly stopped and stared directly into the maid's terrified eyes.
The assassin's cruel smile slowly vanished, replaced by a look of absolute, terrifying recognition.
"Well, well, well," the man whispered, leaning incredibly close to Grace's trembling face.
"I never thought I would see you again, Elena."
Daniel felt a sudden jolt of confusion hit him like a physical blow.
He had known Grace Parker for two years, and he was absolutely certain that was her real name.
Grace did not say a single word, but tears of pure terror began to spill down her pale cheeks.
"Your hiding time is completely over," the man threatened quietly.
"He is going to be thrilled to know we finally found you."
The man turned around, offered Vanessa a mock salute, and walked out into the pouring rain.
Vanessa immediately turned on Grace with a furious, suspicious glare.
"How the hell do you know that man?" Vanessa screamed at the maid.
Grace backed away, her hands shaking violently against her apron.

"I do not know him, ma'am," Grace lied through her teeth, turning to run toward the kitchen.
Daniel gripped the banister tightly, realizing his quiet, competent maid was hiding a deadly secret of her own.
