Chapter 2 - The Flight Trap

I stared at the glamorous woman in absolute shock.
Surrogate?
Graham had never mentioned another woman during our entire relationship.
He certainly never mentioned a wife who thought I was carrying their children.
Graham tried to pull the woman away, his voice laced with sudden panic.
“Victoria, stop, this is not what you think,” he begged.
I did not wait to hear his pathetic explanation.
I grabbed my daughter's tiny hand and called for my other son to follow me closely.
I adjusted the toddler on my hip and practically sprinted toward our boarding gate.
I rushed down the jet bridge, desperate to escape the billionaire who had broken my heart.
We found our assigned seats in the cramped economy cabin.
I buckled the triplets in, praying the airplane doors would close immediately.
My heart hammered wildly against my ribs as the flight attendants completed their final safety checks.
The captain announced that the boarding doors were officially closed.
I let out a massive, heavy sigh of relief.
We were finally escaping Boston.
Then I heard heavy footsteps walking intentionally down the airplane aisle.
The man assigned to the empty seat next to me sat down in the cramped space.
I turned my head and felt all the air violently leave my lungs.
Graham Whitaker was buckling his seatbelt right next to me.
“How did you get on this flight?” I demanded in a harsh whisper.
Graham stared straight ahead, his jaw clenched incredibly tight.
“I bought the airline,” he replied quietly.
I shook my head in pure disbelief.
“You abandoned me, Graham,” I said.
“You told me to raise the baby alone, and then your lawyers threatened to ruin my life if I ever contacted you.”
Graham finally turned to look at me, his eyes filled with genuine confusion.
“I never sent any lawyers to you, Emily,” he stated firmly.
I let out a bitter laugh and pulled my phone from my purse.
I opened the encrypted folder where I kept the terrifying cease-and-desist letters.
I shoved the glowing screen directly into his face.
“Read your own signature, you coward,” I hissed.
Graham took the phone, his eyes scanning the harsh legal documents.
His expression shifted rapidly from confusion to absolute horror.
“Emily, this is my signature, but I did not sign this,” he whispered.
“Someone copied it from my highly classified corporate merger files.”
I snatched my phone back, refusing to believe his convenient lies.
“Who would possibly have the power to do that?” I asked.
Graham looked at the toddlers sleeping peacefully in the seats beside us.
“Victoria's father,” he answered softly.
Before I could process this massive revelation, the airplane's intercom crackled to life.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we are making an emergency diversion due to a passenger manifesting a severe medical crisis,” the pilot announced.
I looked down at my son, Leo, whose skin had suddenly turned a terrifying shade of blue.
