Chapter 9 - The Chase

Absolute silence hung heavily in the dusty air of the warehouse.

Eleanor frantically pressed the red button over and over again, but the detonator failed.

A tactical officer stepped forward and held up a sophisticated electronic jamming device.

"We blocked the radio frequency the moment we breached the perimeter," the commander announced.

Two officers rushed forward, tackling Eleanor violently to the concrete floor.

They ripped the remote from her hands and slapped heavy steel handcuffs on her wrists.

She screamed and cursed, completely losing her elegant composure.

Liam quickly grabbed his pocket knife and sliced through Sarah's thick ropes.

Sarah collapsed into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably against his chest.

"We are safe, it is finally over," Liam whispered, kissing her tears away.

The detective from the precinct walked into the warehouse and approached Liam.

"You were right, the CPS order was entirely fraudulent," the detective said gently.

"Where is my son?" Liam demanded, standing up and holding Sarah close.

The detective's face grew incredibly grim and pale.

"We raided the CPS safe house thirty minutes ago," the detective explained slowly.

"The agents who took your child were actually mercenaries hired by your mother."

Liam felt the world spin wildly out of control as terror gripped his heart.

"They loaded your baby onto a private helicopter bound for the international border," the detective finished.

Eleanor laughed maniacally from the floor as the officers dragged her away.

"You will never see him again!" she screamed triumphantly.

Liam completely ignored her and grabbed the detective by his tactical vest.

"Tell me you are tracking that helicopter right now," Liam pleaded desperately.

"We have air support closing in, but they are about to cross into foreign airspace," the detective said.

Liam and Sarah jumped into the back of the detective's speeding cruiser.

They raced toward the nearest military airfield with the sirens blaring loudly.

They listened in sheer agony to the police radio chatter as the pursuit unfolded.

The pilot of the police helicopter suddenly keyed his microphone with an urgent update.

"The mercenary chopper is going down in the forest, they are crashing!" the pilot shouted over the radio.
