Chapter 4 - The Show of Force
David stepped into the mansion, flanked by four heavily armed state troopers.
Chief Miller instantly dropped his crystal glass, shattering it completely on the hardwood floor.
"You have absolutely no jurisdiction in Colorado, David!" Richard shouted, his face turning bright red.
David smiled coldly and pulled a thick, folded legal document from his tactical jacket.
"This is a federal warrant for your immediate arrest regarding interstate wire fraud, Richard," David announced smoothly.
David walked straight over to me and kissed my cheek, instantly calming my racing heart.
Marcus stared at David with pure, unadulterated jealousy burning in his eyes.
"You brought your new boyfriend to my family's house?" Marcus demanded bitterly.
"I brought my future husband to protect our children from your insane family," I corrected him sharply.
Marcus looked desperately at Noah, trying to put on a pathetic, charming smile.
"Hey, buddy, I'm your real dad, don't you want to come give me a big hug?" Marcus begged.
Noah looked at Marcus with an expression of pure, innocent disgust.
"David is our dad, you are just the bad man who ran away," Noah stated bravely.
The entire room fell completely silent again.
Marcus's face twisted into an ugly mask of sudden, violent rage.
"You completely poisoned them against me!" Marcus screamed, losing his mind entirely.
He lunged forward aggressively, raising his heavy hand to strike my eight-year-old son.
I moved to block him, but someone else was much faster.
A loud, crackling sound filled the air, followed immediately by Marcus screaming in sheer agony.
Marcus collapsed violently to the floor, his entire body convulsing uncontrollably.
Standing directly behind him was Ashley, the blonde girlfriend who had supposedly left the house.
She was holding a high-voltage police taser, and the metal prongs were securely embedded in Marcus's back.
"I explicitly warned you I wasn't just a girlfriend," Ashley said casually, dropping the spent taser cartridge.

She reached into her red designer dress and pulled out a shiny gold badge.
"I am Special Agent Ashley Vance with the FBI, and this entire family is under arrest," she declared.
