Chapter 7 - The Trap Is Sprung

Adrian was completely sealed inside the reinforced office with his brother.
Julian stood up, straightening his tailored suit as if they were just having a casual business meeting.
"You should have just drank the wine, Adrian," Julian mocked. "It would have been painless."
Adrian kept his weapon perfectly steady, aiming directly between his brother's eyes.
"You poisoned my son and locked my daughter in a doghouse," Adrian spat out. "You crossed a line that cannot be uncrossed."
Julian laughed condescendingly, pacing back and forth in front of the computer screens.
He bragged about how easy it was to manipulate Adrian after his first wife passed away.
"Elena is a brilliant actress, isn't she?" Julian smiled. "She played the loving stepmother perfectly until she got bored."
Adrian refused to let the taunts distract him.
He knew he couldn't shoot Julian yet because he needed a full confession recorded for the authorities.
Adrian slyly tapped the side of his smartwatch, activating a hidden audio transmitter connected to the FBI field office.
"So, you faked your death just to steal the family trust fund?" Adrian asked, coaxing the confession out.
"I faked my death because our father was a weak fool who was going to give the company to charity!" Julian yelled.
Julian proudly confessed to hiring the fake police officer, sourcing the untraceable poison, and orchestrating the entire plot.
He admitted that Vanessa was his legal wife and an accomplice to the attempted murders.
"And now, I am going to kill you, forge your suicide note, and take everything," Julian declared triumphantly.
Julian reached under his desk to grab a hidden weapon.
Adrian did not flinch.
"You always were too arrogant, Julian," Adrian said calmly.
Adrian pointed to the blinking red light on his smartwatch.
"I just live-streamed your entire confession directly to the FBI cyber division," Adrian revealed.
Julian's face went completely pale as he realized he had just confessed to multiple federal crimes on a live feed.
Sirens suddenly began to wail in the distance, growing louder as dozens of tactical vehicles approached the pier.

But Julian was not going to go down without a fight.
He pulled a heavy revolver from under the desk and fired a shot directly at Adrian's chest.
